With nearly two decades of experience in bodywork, Justin began his career as a massage therapist in Traverse City, Michigan. His dedication to deepening his understanding of the human body led him to study at the Rolf Institute of Structural Integration, where he refined his skills in a more holistic and integrative approach to manual therapy. In 2021, a gentle soul named Avatar came into Joy’s life and changed it forever. A graceful Saluki with a quiet strength, Avatar had endured a tough journey. He was living in Doha, Qatar, when he suffered a serious injury to his front left leg. A kind-hearted man took him in and, wanting the best for him, sent Avatar to the United States, trusting that the experts there could help him heal. For months, Avatar went through physical therapy, bravely trying to recover. But it soon became clear that the best path forward was to amputate his injured leg. Though it was a big change, Avatar faced it with quiet courage. It was during his recovery that Joy met him. She was volunteering at the shelter, walking dogs and offering them comfort, when she came across Avatar. There was something about him—something calm, kind, and wise. She began helping care for his healing scars, and with each gentle touch, a bond started to form. Seeing how naturally they connected, the adoption agency asked if Joy could take Avatar home to help him continue healing in a more peaceful place. Within just a few hours of being together, something beautiful happened: they chose each other. Since that day, Joy and Avatar have been inseparable. He may have three legs, but Avatar walks through life with a full heart—and now, with someone who loves him every step of the way.
